Sanyo Creates Ear and Mouth Combo

Sanyo Earphone/MicSanyo and NS-Elex have combined forces to create a really ugly-looking earphone/microphone designed for those in loud environments. It cancels out especially loud sounds and amplifies your voice at the same time. The device can be used on cell phones, radios, or any other device with the proper plug in. Set to come out by April 2008, it will carry a price of ~$355.00. A Bluetooth version will also be available for ~$530.00. Can you say feedback?

Unidenmen Are Walking Billboards

UnidenmenUniden has released a troup of mobile showrooms under the guise of Unidenmen in the town of Shimokitazawa, Japan. Wearing futuristic suits, they strap the TVs to their chests, while their backs feature QR codes so that products can be ordered from mobile phone sites. Placed in 34 different areas, the company is hoping to attract 25 to 30 year-olds who are shopping or bar hopping. This would beat the dorky sandwich signs that are used here in The States, but we would think that those things have to get heavy after a while.

VibraceletWe all have a tendency to leave our cell phones in the wrong room or lose them for a time in the car seat or couch, so we think this simple idea may help. LM Technologies’ Vibracelet receives a V 1.1, 1.2, or 2.0. Bluetooth signal from your phone to let you know you have a call. With a user friendly interface, it can be set up in only a few minutes. Recharging takes about 3 hours and it features about 100 hours of standby time. Although they do not expect availability until early next year, it will carry a MSRP of £29.99 (~$61.00.) We only wish it included GPS to help us find the phone.

Driin’s Device Holder Keeps Gadgets Off The Floor

deviceholderHoliday traveling means (at least) two things - packing up handheld electronics to keep yourself entertained and connected, and trying to find places to stow those gadgets while they’re charging.  In hotel rooms and guestrooms across the country outlets may abound, but there isn’t always a place close to the outlets to safely sit your stuff while it recharges.

Enter Kikkerland’s Portable Device Holder by Driin.  The L-shaped accessory has a large hole in the top through which you plug the charger into the wall.  Sit your gadget of choice on the little shelf and voila - no need to rest your precious metals (or plastics, silicones, or combinations thereof) on the floor.

AT&T Pay Phones To Become Dinosaurs

Superman

Notice the lack of pay phones lately? AT&T has decided to back out of that business by the end of this year. The problem is in the figures; this is a result of a drop from 2.6 million in use in 1998 to about 1 million this year. Independent companies will take most of their business. According to experts, about 89% of people are currently using cell phones. BellSouth dropped their pay phones before being bought out by the AT&T, but rival Verizon says it will continue to operate their 250,00 pay phones. Whatever will Superman do?

Why I Love LG’s VX9400 Cellphone (aka the “TV Phone”): A Review

LG's VX9400 from Verizon

In August, my contract with T-Mobile ended, and I was ready to upgrade my cell phone. Like most everyone else, I desperately wanted an , but the $500 price tag was too rich for my blood.  I also considered the Sidekick, which would have allowed me to stay with T-Mobile (whose service I love). Then one day I wandered into a store to check out their “TV Phone”: ’s VX9400.
